Black Box: Event Data Recorder in pre-1995 Mercedes Benz automobiles
https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/columnist/komando/2014/12/26/keep-your-car-black-box-private/20609035/
I am wondering if it might be possible to install an after market event data recorder in a pre-1995 mercedes benz automobile. I believe this might help both yourself and accident investigators in case of an accident. What do you think? |

A dashcam provides visual data. What it doesn't provide is critical data such as speed, braking, steering, severity of collision, etc.
An Event Data Recorder may help to complete the picture for a more complete reconstruction of an accident. |

This article shows how an EDR may help you in the event of an accident. Of course, if you are a wild maniac driver, this may hurt you.

Most high end dash cams have built in accelerometer and GPS receiver. This isn't exactly bleeding edge technology anymore.
