What puzzles me is why Uro won't get their quality up to OEM. Most of us would gladly pay, say, 35% off OEM for an URO part that lasts and fits like OEM instead of an URO part at 80% off OEM which doesn't fit.

These belong underneath the wiper arm where the shaft attached to the motor pokes through the plastic trim to keep water trickling down into the mechanism.

Pull the motor, grease everywhere the arms are hinged and metal turns within metal. Silicone grease where there's rubber.

It may just come down to economics..............price of regular gas in New Jersey is $2.29, a gallon, with diesel running $3.33 a gallon.

I am thinking electric for my next car. Still about 4 or so years away, but as we are downsizing, I will be making sure my next garage can handle level 2 charging with little work. My current garage can.

Don't shill for a company that knowingly makes and sells defective parts .

I was at a local mostly British cars & coffee gathering Sunday and a pristine looking MGB pulled in, it's now all electric and neatly done no less ~ even underneath it's shiny and properly done in every aspect .

Not really a fair comparison as there's been no gas MB aside from the Metris made in the past 20+ years that can run on regular gas properly. Premium almost always costs more than diesel.

Around here right now I can get diesel for $2.73 and Premium is $3.17

Combined with the added MPG of the diesel that's a huge cost difference on an annual 15k miles driven.....usually saves me close to $1,500 on fuel alone vs driving my old 420SEL (sold) or my current 2001 E320.

I pulled mine apart and greased it a few years ago. The rubber grommets around the bearings fell apart. Is there a replacement for these? I just gobbled mine up with a lot of silicone grease. I think I should open it up and take a peek in there again.

Not talking about the grommet under the arm, I’m talking about the ones that look like tie rod boots on the regulator mechanism.

I am confident that W123s can be maintained in roadworthy condition for decades to come. I frequently still drive a W110 (MUCH more ancient than a W123) on a 55-mile each way commute and it does fine. As a matter of fact, I am driving it right now while I am repairing the alternator bracket in my 123. I can still get parts for the 110 and it's well over 50 years old.

There are many, many more W123s around today than there were W110s even 30 years ago, so I'm optimistic regarding future part availability for them.

The wiper motor itself can blow out eventually too. I had one die during heavy snow once in my 300SD many years ago....smelled horrifying.
