That is why they did not weld these engines to the transmissions... so you could get the five speed and put it into whatever car you want it in....

*drooling* Ugh don't tempt me...I've already got $2500 (that I don't have yet) set aside for a Benz, and no more...certainly not another $2500 to get a tranny (or for much of anything else for that matter).

I'm still wondering if any parts shops have 5sp manual trannies that can be bought by themselves...? I'd love to make a 300D into a stick someday...but I'll wait for the auto to die first.

Well, why did you not say you were needing justification to get the 5 speed..... Just drive your 84 Ford truck ( your choice since you only have 84's ) and drag it back with your 300d... the trans will be toast by the time you get there and you can feel rightous getting the 5 speed.

You might even have the excitement of making it a 5 speed somewhere in some small town with one garage along your route.... you could turn your experience into a movie... " 5speeds through the Bridges of Madison County ".....

Well, I suppose more likey " Commanche County ".

Talking

*lmao*

Actually, my two trucks both being '84's is a coincidence. In fact, the F-series was actually built in August '83, but made the cut-off into the '84 model year...and the van was built at just about the opposite end of the spectrum.

I just wish I had gotten the pickup for different reasons than I did

A 300D towing an F-series...that would make for one heckuva picture. My truck would probably be insulted, though; it's already needed to be towed a few times in the past year...
