It wasn't all that blue...looked like fuel probably....not oil so much.

Yesterday we were sitting outside an antique mall and the car was doing its smoking thing. A county mounty came by and asked if we were ok. Someone had called him thinking my car was on fire.

Hah hah!

I was afraid as he pulled up he might give me a ticket for illegal burning or something. It was in Michigan and they are pretty serious about the environment up here.

Seriously though I might have to get rid of it over the smoke. It is embarrassing. I really like the car otherwise.

There is something wrong, I've never seen any more than a light gray haze (briefly) during a regen on mine. Sounds like that vehicle needs a thorough dealer inspection to figure out whats wrong with it.

They aren't that serious about pollution in MI....we have no inspections and I see people rolling coal or burning up their engine sumps via blue plumes regularly....

Fuel economy is pretty good, so not too likely....also would smoke all the time if so right?

Not yet. I was going to take it by the dealer because it did not seem it would ever stop smoking but it did. Also as an aside, I did have to add the adblue a few days ago. Would that have any impact to this smoking situation?

Nope. Take it by Advance Auto Parts or O'Reillies and get them to read it for free and let us know what you find out.

Any idea if Hot Shot sticktion eliminator is any good, or just snake oil? Seen it advertised on a few gear head programs for use in modern diesels.

Mass air sensor is easy. How many miles are on it again? I'd have to study up on the NOX sensor to see if either could cause the smoking. Did they reset it for you? If they reset for you then see what pops back up.
