1985 300D Injector Torque Spec
I'm about to change the #5 injector on my 300D. Either the fuel rail line or the injector is leaking..... so why not just replace both and get it over with. Anyone know how much torque should be applied to both the injector and the fuel rail line? Any special tools (size)? I'm a newbie to Mercedes and car repairs. It's about time I learned!
Thanks! Brian |

The injector takes 70-80Nm, the injector line takes 25Nm at the injector end.
Don't forget a new nozzle plate/heat shield with the new injector. However, leaks typically come from the return hoses or plug so check them first. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 81 300SD (sold) |

Leak
Thanks for the specs! I've swapped the return line and the plug out a couple of times just to make sure it wasn't that. I can actually see fuel seeping from the top of the conical section of the injector. I have the new fuel rail line and a new injector. I didn't about about the shield, etc.... Do you happen to know part numbers for them??
Thanks again!!! Brian |

Does anybody know what the torque spec on the injectors in ft-lbs? I don't think I have Newton Meters on my wrench because the numbers are like 6.9, 9.7, 12.4 etc. But I definitely have it in ft lbs. Thanks

To convert N/m to ft/lbs, multiply by 0.737. To convert N/m to in/lbs, multiply by 8.651.

That would be the Newton/meter scale. Those figures are equal to 2 foot/lbs per increment. No doubt the foot/lbs scale is in whole numbers.

Thanks... I was close in my original thought. I was thinking it was about 50 ft/lbs and in the actual converting 70 N/m equals 51.59 ft/lbs.
