Where is rear height adjustment mechanical sun roof

I'm working on an 85TD with manual sun roof. I've got it moving smoothly and the front in alignment but the rear is too low. The FSM says to turn the bolts or something similar.

I can't see how anything in the rear affects height of the back edge. Do the slides on the stop rods need to be out further to lift the back edge?

The electrical sunroof has a plastic cam-like arrangement for that adjustment. Look for something similar.

I looked. Didn't see it unless moving the stop rods wider will do it. I'll try that but several here have likely dealt with the same thing.

Here's the FSM. I don't see the screws.

For manual sunroof adjustment, it is exactly as provided in steps 8 and 9. The roof must be open completely to access the adjustment. It is simply a tab welded to the sunroof tray on both sides at about a 40 degree angle. In the middle of this tab is a small screw, flush mounted. Turning the screw clockwise will increase the tab's angle, allowing the sunroof to sit higher at the rear and vise versa for lower.

Thanks EZ. I'll look tomorrow with fresh eyes.

I ran into something else. It seemed like the front seal was holding the sun roof off of where it needed to seat. I removed the seal and uncovered rust in the groove that holds the seal in. I think there are some of the little cans of POR 15 in the closet.

If this seal is the original, I would replace it. However, use only a genuine MBZ seal. It's about the same cost as aftermarket, and the only one that will fit correctly. Some silicone spray and wind deflector removal will help greatly with installation of the seal. And don't forget to make sure the front drains are clear.
