Idle adjustment screw-up

Recently acquired a 1983 300SD. After reading the words of wisdom in this forum, I decided to adjust the idle speed. When I attempted to loosen the lock nut, the whole thing broke away from the injector pump body! Any way to fix or am I in the market for a new injector pump?

HELP.... Injection Pump disaster........

Look what I did a while ago!
I bought a used IP from E-Bay. I took it to my mechanic who didn't recommend installing that used IP just because my car runs so well.
Remember don't overtighten it.

BTW..

he made a plate that attaches to a big screw nearby and somehow made it work like it did before... I have no clue how he did it.

I'll take a pic if I could...

I beg you find a way to take that pic. I just did the same thing... damn assembly broke off. I'm sitting here staring at my idle bolt and finding out I know more curses than I thought.

Anybody else know how to fix this? Comeon you brilliant bastards, don't let me down!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me on the identical car. I am assuming that you broke the threaded part through which the adjustment bolt fits. I managed to fix mine with epoxy, the kind that you knead like dough.

Using this epoxy, which I picked up at K-Mart, I formed a new threaded part. By threading the bolt into the epoxy back and forth several times, (before the epoxy dried) I also managed to form the correct new threads. I put grease on the bolt to prevent it from sticking to the epoxy. Once it dried, I was able to use the idle adjustment bolt as before.

The repair was permanent, and still held when I sold my car 3 years later.

Not JB weld but that clay like stuff? Sounds like it's worth a shot.

In my previous thread, I should have added that it was not me hat broke the part, but rather my mechanic. It was late Friday afternoon just before closing. My car was in his garage for something else (I forget what now) and when he finished, I asked him to lower my idle speed as a favour. He did and that's when that part broke. He felt bad, and I felt bad for him. He told me to bring back the car back the following Monday and he'll fix it free of charge. He knows how, He said its a common problem and that he fixed many before. He said that it will take him 1/2 Hour. I did fix it myself however over the weekend. (As described in my post).

I never learned how he was going to fix it. But as I said my way worked perfectly and was easy and fast to do. That epoxy is completely cured in less then 20 Minutes.

I used the same stuff to glue the nipple back to the Air filter. The nipple underneath the air filter that fits into the oil breather tube. This stuff is amazing. Its good for 500F and is impervious to chemicals. You can use it for Radiator leaks, Exhaust leaks, Fuel leaks, and it even sets under water. Its amazing stuff.
