85TD Vac. Pump
Thanks to everybody for helping me diagnose a bad vac. pump. I am now a new convert to the use of a stethascope in the garage.
The help I got here may very well have saved the motor of a very fine car. Thanks again! |
Join the group of steth users... my favorite is just a piece of spring steel which was the hood raising mechanism on a 67 Plymouth... it is bent on both ends so I do not have to contort my head ,,, and it will reach around stuff sometimes... They are really useful tools...

I call this a stethascope. It is a plastic tube that was an extension on a funnel. The end that fits onto the funnel is a bit flared and I crammed a metal carving tool in the other end. The metal touches the engine or component and picks up the vibration. It works very well. I look like some sort of Ozark motor healer, but if I was interested in impressing the neighbors I wouldn't be driving the 116.
