I notice an increased amount of new Mercedes gas cars around this year here. Personally I feel money should not matter much if you want to own one longer term. The brands track record for ownership costs is not that great.

MB hasn't sold a diesel other than the sprinter in the USA since around 2016....so all new are gas.

The numbers in Europe are declining a bit also, but still plenty of diesels being sold there.
