Mercedes rollover crash

Looks like this car used to be a 300E coupe. The guy probably would have been fine had he worn his seatbelt. The crumple zone on the front worked perfectly from what I can see.

The damage to front and rear of the car suggests a massive impact both places. He might have died even if belted in. Most of these roll overs the driver is thrown out and his car rolls over on him.

Looks like a w126 coupe. Article says "the engine was no longer in the car. It was laying next to the vehicle, according to the officer." Aftermarket rims and wider than stock rear tyres might suggest a speedfreak...

End over end looking at the damage. I was thinking barrel roll ejects driver easier than and end over roll would.

I think the engine is designed to drop down upon sufficient frontal impact to avoid it being fed to driver and front passenger.

Once released and the car turns over it's likely to just drop away I'd imagine.

As mentioned above, its definitely a W126 coupe. Engine looks like an m117 v8. Article doesn't say anything about seatbelt usage. Sad.

Post Even Science

Will fail if you ignore it .

Looks like an endo to me more that rollover .

I hope this fool had no wife / children .

A young man I knew killed him self by being ejected via the open sun roof when he left a twisty highway going 150 MPH ~ why anyone wouldn't wear seat belts when going that fast is beyond me .

They'll never learn. Breaking the speed limit is nothing to a lot of folks.. Darwin Award Winners.

They must have had some serious speed happening to disintegrate a W126.
Crazy stuff. Probably was a 500SEC or 560SEC, and it was green, that was a pretty rare car. Gotta wonder what the guy was thinking to cause a wreck like that.

It didn't "disintegrate." Those are called crush zones. Mercedes-Benz designed their motorcars that way like 50+ years ago......

I am aware of what crumple zones are. And yes to cause that significant amount of damage some serious speed was involved. Its a little beyond "crumpled."

Probably a dui. The only time I turned a car into a wreck like that was when I got my dui.
