Air Conditioner Compressor Wiring

My AC went out in my '81 300TD (again). This time it looks like an easy fix since the wires came off the connectors. The connector itself is a goner, but the wires and the terminals are OK. Which wire goes on top, the green or the orange? Stock AC.

Which connector?

The one on the left side of the compressor itself.

With pictures. Both are taken from the top of the engine from the left side.

Does the green wire go on top or on the bottom?

I think it goes toward the top. Do an image search on GM R4 compressors.

Good luck!!!

Closing this one out

To close this one out. After fun-filled trip around the internet searching for information and images on the R4 compressor, I'm fairly certain it doesn't matter which lead goes to which terminal. I can't point to any hard evidence for it, mind you, but then again, if there is no evidence one way or another, I figured it was a safe guess that it doesn't matter.

I wired mine up with the green wire on the bottom and the brown on top. The AC works fine now (at least as fine as a W123 stock system will work at 105^F and 18% humidity.

Yes, it matters not which wire goes on either terminal.
