What's the easiest way to get 126 rear windshield chrome

There is a yard with an 85SD. What's the down and dirty way to get the rear windshield chrome? I won't trash parts needlessly but don't want to be there all day either.

How about the starter and turbo? Any tricks or special tools?

If the yard is close by, put penetrating oil on the turbo bolts a couple of days before and go back later.

To get the starter, turn the wheels to the left if key is there, if not drop the center link out of the way, undo all of the wires, remove the front starter bracket completely. Put the starter in a makeshift sling so it doesn't fall out and break. Go inside the car and put two holes, one for each starter bolt in the passenger floorboard and remove the bolts from inside the car. Use the sling to lower the starter to the ground.

For the window moulding, don't pull on it as it will bend and never look right. Put on tough durable work gloves, using numerous new sharp utility blades and a good utility knife, cut the rubber away to release the moulding. Soapy water or WD-40 in the gasket groove may help too. Something that might work, I haven't tried it though is a piece of light gauge wire under the T of the moulding pulled along under the moulding.

Good luck!!!

I got the rear window chrome by cutting the seal from the inside and pushing the glass to the outside. The chrome was removed from the seal by also cutting the seal. I have a new OE seal in the shop.

I also got the power steering pump, vacuum pump, pick up for the tach, a good monovalve with electronics, several door checks, cruise actuator, 2 nice pieces of door wood, a bunch of switches & relays and lots of little things for $75. Also a seat and blend door actuator for my truck.

I may go back for the radiator, oil cooler, starter & truck carpet.
