determining build year on euro
I just bought a 300d euro for scrap value. The motor ran low on oil and motor seems locked.
I cannot find any identification on it or build data. It has an import sticker on the passenger door, but it has no date on it. The car has manual climate control Non turbo Electronic sunroof Cloth seats Cruise control runs off a cable and servo mounted to the driver's fenderwell. Unfortunately it has an r-4 compressor. Any ideas how to figure out what year it is?

Run the VIN through one of the online decoder sites. It'll give build date and original configuration. No guesswork that way.

No evidence of a VIN anywhere. Nothing on a pillar. I have attached a picture of the door tag. The core support is painted black though I haven't looked it over carefully to see if something might be covered up.
I bought it from a junk yard and was told it had been on the road two months ago. No paperwork in glove box either. I was hoping someone could deduce build year from the options. I did just realize it has a manual passenger side view mirror. That is a score for me.

I assume you mean the windshield support by Pillar. That is where it should be I would think.
Sounds like a nice simple car to run.

Yes I should have typed A pillar.
With no vin or title it will probably never run as a single car again, but hopefully will be parts to keep several others running.

I don't know but it would seem that there should be more than one location for the serial number.....Studebakers have three I believe.
Usually there is one in a location that is very difficult to reach. On my Studie I finally found it stamped on the bottom of the frame right under the driver's thigh. I bought a new plate and stamped it and installed it in a prominent location. Since I did not bother the one under the car I am not worried. If anybody asks any question I can invite them to crawl under and check the one on the frame. The cop looked at and made no comment.

I figured there was an mb build savant on here who could determine the year by seeing a list of options.
It has automatic sunroof and cruise control. Those would seem to point to newer, but the cruise is the servo and cable type that is mounted to the fenderwell instead of next to the PS pump. It also has headrests on the back seat which I have never seen before. Since it will never see the road again, the vin is not mission critical. Wasn't there someone on here recently who needed a NA radiator? I now have one.

The firewall was a great call. I didn't know it was stamped there. Unfortunately I haven't found a vin decoder that can identify it. One out of europe said it as an 83 with a manual transmission, but its an automatic. Otherwise they reject it outright. Anyone have access to a good decoder?
