Temperature gauge not working

Hello everyone, it has been a long time since I have posted. Glad to be here. I have recently gotten excited about my 1985 300SD again. In doing so I have noticed that the temperature gauge is not working (along with other neglected items). The needle doesn't even budge. Any suggestions on how to remedy this would be very much appreciated. I have searched through multiply threads but haven't found exactly what I am looking for. Thank you in advance.

Does the engine get warm? Does the heater work? Coolant full?

The engine does get warm and has plenty of coolant. The HVAC units works marginally but when it does, it will blow hot air. I believe it's the temp gauge or a coolant sensor but not sure where to go with it. Thank you

Read the link below...there are two sensors, I'm not sure which goes to the gauge but I think it's the one with the green wire. If your gauge does nothing it is a sensor, gauge or wire problem. You'll need a volt ohm meter to start troubleshooting.

Good luck!!!

Thank you very much for the insight. I'll report back with what I figure out.
