I don't think it would change it much. Had to bend it very little to get the angle right for the pan bolt.

Now those cooler lines are a completely different matter!

A wee update.

So I got this going about April. Had a awful time dialing in the vacuum timing. Numerous areas can affect it. Also I have the Euro IP so thats another thing to figure out.

Anyway it shifts decent, but with flaring. No way to adjust it out, just let up a bit when it shifts.

Alas now that a wee glimpse of cooler weather has arrived. It will not shift right when cold(60' F)holds the gears WAY too long. You'd swear the valves will come out the hood before it finds the next gear! Though when warm, it shifts the normal way it had been.

I take it she needs a rebuild. Made it maybe 3-4K miles... I still drive it though, just let it warm up. It continues to surve a purpose, and goes on adventures of fixing local MB's in need.

To be fair the original trans had exploded internally, so this was certainly a step up. The only thing that saved this car was the interior, no rust, and being a euro spec model.

Post 722.117 Tranny Fun

So ;

You never did mention what the operating pressures are .

I hope you changed the tranny's filter as well as the ATF ~ they're actual filters unlike the screen used in American cars slushboxes .

Please keep us posted, my '82 240D's 722.117 it vastly better but I think still needs a bit of adjustment, at least no flaring .

Every W123 I've owned or driven, shifted later (higher RPM) when cold, then got better as it warmed up .

yes I changed the fluid, and the filter. No idea about the pressures. If, or before I rip into it, I'll hook up some gauges and see whats going on.

Any kind of bottle or can will work as an overflow catch. Just fasten it on where the fan and such will not hit it.

Also possibly you are over filling your rad. Just put in enough to cover the top of your cooling tubes top. That will give the air a place to expand without overflowing.
