air recirculating valve location ? '87 w124

Can anyone tell me where air recirculating valve is on the 603 engine? I recently disabled the egr valve and would like to do the same to the recirculating valve. Is it below the egr? beneath the air filter housing? what does it look like? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Bryan:

The air recirc valve is in the front end of the turbo. There is a plastic vac line going to either the front or the top of the compressor section just behind where the air hose from the air filter goes. Mine was on the front, large nipple cast into the casing.

Pull and plug the line. You can also pull the supply line to the actuator -- both EGR and air recirc actuators are mounted to the fender under the air cleaner.

I'm not particular about looks, so I just disconnected the two vac supply lines at the 5-way T in the front of the engine and plugged the two branches on the passenger side. Fixed my hard shifts and no center vent AC problems.

Peter,

I'm assuming the location is the same for the SDL?

Goldenbear:

Yes. Actuators can be reached without removing the air filter housing on the SDL.
