Well I never got the trucking company to go for it.

So the lovely Mrs. W and our cockapoo Angle are heading west in a rental car. We'll be meeting the seller in Vegas Friday night or Saturday.

The corolla is pretty nice.

Sweet wagon! Literally perfect except those rpms at freeway speeds....up here in MI where 80mph is pretty much the baseline freeway speed these days that car would be screaming.

I'm too used to my GLK wafting along at ~2200rpm at 80...

Someday I'll get a W124 wagon....I've always wanted one.

Good luck on the trip!

I may convert to the five speed od tranny. Otherwise, yes, seems perfect to my simple mind.

Have a safe trip. Don't put diesel in the Corolla.

Indeed. You know me well.

I took possession of it last night. Runs and looks excellent. We'll head out shortly to turn in the rental car. There are lots of bright lights here and it looks like an easy place to get lost.

Yes, Rich. I would like to have met you too. Thanks to you and Will (the seller) helping me to get comfortable buying a car from so far away. (Will unloaded my wagon and loaded up a lovely Super beetle convertible to take home with him).

Today we spent the day driving out to Hoover Dam. After that we drive to downtown Vegas and walked around and had some cheap street vendor food. Now am back at the hotel. The Mrs. and dog are sawing logs.

The 300td ran with the traffic today hitting 90 a few times and cruising at 85. I could feel the hills but we went right up them. It idles very smoothly and on the highway it makes a whirring sound. Everything that I questioned last night now I put down to simply driving differently than the Toyo.

My biggest complaint is no cup holders!

And it looks like a new car, in and out.

The lure of the bright lights and shows in Vegas. Might be hard to avoid. Many take the opportunity to see the Hoover dam. A staggering project in it's time.

Nice that car meets or exceeds expectations. Enjoy the drive home.

I knew it happened when I read it. Although as they say here, pictures or it didn't happen. 275k+ on the 95.

Yes, we went over yesterday to see it all again but they would not let us in with our dog or leave the dog in the car.....still a good time and we did drive across the top of the dam again.

The car is working great so far.

The Mrs. has rough hands about things mechanical and broke off the tab thingie that holds the sunshade over the windshield so I will need one of those.

I have not figured out fuel economy yet but am getting ready to do so. I've had it over 100 I believe by accident going downhill....been cruising at 130 klick which I understand is 81 mph.

Am in Albuquerque tonight. The Unser museum is closed due to the virus.

We'll drive to somewhere in Mo. tomorrow then home next day.
