300 SDL Sunshades Windshield

Does anyone know the dimensions of the windshield, does anyone have any suggestions of good sunshades for the front and all the windows? It's very difficult to get into our garage, and I want to keep the sun off the interior of my 86 300 SDL.

I just buy the largest on the shelf then cut them to fit. On the door windows I use the visors which are kept in place by suction cups. I suppose you could drop by a walmart and buy some of the suction cups and buy a couple extra windshield visors, cut them to fit the side windows.

My guess is that the above method would be much cheaper than buying custom fitted screens.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to go by Pep Boys and see what they have. I called covercraft, and not only are they expensive, the people who answer the phones are very uptight, and don't like to give up much information. Amazing!

A little off the track from my original question, I lost the key for the locking lug nuts. Rather than buying the key from the dealer at $33. 00. I understand you can use something like an Allen wrench. Would you know which one to get?

Thanks!

I would buy the original and remove all the locking nuts, replace them with regular equipment then sell the nuts and the key or throw them all in the trash.

I use Covercraft fitted windshield screens in my MBs. Pricey but US made, fit well, and good quality. The one in my 83 sedan is 8 years old and looks the same as the one I just got for my 83 wagon.

To camp in my wagons, I got large rolls of Reflectix from my local hardware store and cut to fit the side and rear windows. If you make them just a hair large, they’re light enough that you can insert them into the valley between the window and door panel and they will hold themselves up. Total blackout and massive heat reduction.

What kind of reflectix do you use? There are a number of different varieties on Amazon and Home Depot.

Out of curiosity when the central locking mechanism isn't working, is there an override to permit opening of the gas filling door?

Yes. Open the trunk and push or pull the locking lever at the actuator in or out.

Well, where is the actuator or locking kever, and what do you do if the Trunk isn't opening as well?

Going to my mechanic on Tuesday.

Well, we did get the trunk open, but where is the locking lever that would open up the gas filler door? Any prompt assistance would be very appreciated, as we badly need to put gas in the beast.

The sliding rod to lock/unlock the fuel door is attached to the vacuum element, and can be manually activated.
It is located in the trunk at the rear of the fuel door, under the vertical carpeting/sound deadening material.

Just pull back the material to gain acces to the rod.
IIRC it is just a friction fit for the carpeting, and there may be a small clip if it is not AWOL.

I think I used about a quarter of this roll to do a wagon.
