Serpentine belt on E320 cdi

Do you have to remove the fan guard and electric fan to replace the serpentine belt?

Also, does anyone have a belt diagram that they can post here? I don't have the owner's manual which normally shows the belt routing.

Thanks so much in advance!!!!

Thanks for the diagram, do you know if removing the fan shroud and fan is required?

I've done it both ways. You just have to loop the belt over all the right pulleys and put it over the tensioner last using a 17mm socket on it with a breaker bar of some sort. It's tight and you will scrape your hands but doable. I've changed the belt, pulleys, tensioner, water pump (twice), and alternator. 334000miles.

Well, I was bold enough to do it without removing anything except the front engine shield on the bottom to insure that I had it on all of the pulleys right!

I can say it was not without bruising on my arms because the space you have to work in is so narrow!

Belt

Did you change the belt and pulleys from underneath the engine or from above?
