1982 300sd hard to put in new tumbler
Just want to get some feedback before I source a new assembly. Check out my video here explaining the problem : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNd-Hjre5wc&ab_channel=JulienRagot
Thanks! Julien |

I've played with those assemblies several times. I think you can turn the part(s) which don't suit you by pressing that protruding lump with a large slotted screwdriver (flathead) and twisting the screwdriver handle.
You're in bad shape if you're taking advise from me, btw.

I had the same issue with 124 with a tumbler from ebay, ended up returning it and buying febi. Works ok.
The other thing that may influence it, you may need those outside tabs pressed to fit/turn |

I think you need to have the steering lock installed in the car when installing the tumbler. At least the FSM shows it being installed in the car while the tumbler is R&R'd. See the pdf here: https://tinyurl.com/ir7un9yq

I ran my SD without the tumblers for a while and was able to turn the switch with a screwdriver. You'll have to figure out why your switch isn't lined up correctly. Either the switch is out or the tumbler is.
