300sdl Turbo Upgrade

Hello i was wondering is anyone on here running upgraded Turbo’s and what is theyre experience been like ? I am leaning towards getting a Borg warner I believe SXE200. Anybody on here running BW’s? Anything to look out before tackling that job? I do plan on having BenzForce rebuild my IP with the Dieselmeken 7.5 elements. Any input if anyone is running that would be appreciated also.

Get directly from Dieselmeken, BenzForce is just a middleman that doesn't do anything himself.

What is your goal for the car? That will determine your turbo choice.
Daily driver? You want good low RPM torque. GT2359V or HE221W will get you to mid 250hp with great low RPM torque. HY35/HE341 will get you into the 300's without too much drivability sacrifice.

If you go big turbo like HX35, HX40 or S200, its going to be a dog around town under 3000rpm.

Yes this will be my DD, i would say im aiming around the 300 hp range an maybe on the weekends turn it up a little to play with it. Majority of the work on the car i can do myself, im going through the suspension right now an then my leaks at the same time. Does you know what the cost is to ship to Dieselmeken an get it back? Ill inquire more with them an yeah i see that BenzForce sends out the pumps, Dieselmeken recommended thatbi use them for being in the states. Not sure if im aksing for too much, but i would lets say during the week 200/225, an when i wana play turn it up to around 300/325. That is i guesss my end goal for it.

First question to ask is what are you going to do about the awful 3 piece exhaust manifold?

I do plan on getting a manifold built after Turbo an Pump are decided upon. Then find a quality shop to do it in central ca. Im not looking to outrun a Ferrari, just something that is fun and dependable to a point lol. I know with Juicing her up will come with its own struggles.

That's intriguing. I have an SDL now sitting because (prolly) either cracked head or bad gasket. No spring chicken at 360K but it ran strong before all of this. I blew a radiator Oct. '19, ran for over a year but might have cracked the 14 head.

This might motivate me to get it running again. I found a GT2359V from a 2005 E320 CDI on eBay, not that I'll buy this one.

But I'm curious, do you know if there would be any upside from sourcing this model, perhaps some possible fitting compatibility?

I see other varieties of about the same turbo, such as this one from (or for anyway, they say it's new) a Toyota land cruiser.

The different applications mainly change the flanges.
However, getting a turbo like the Toyota one with a pneumatic actuator already designed in will simplify things greatly unless you want to go the electronic route.

However, beware that Toyota one you linked to is a Chinese copy like the counterfeit holset turbos BenzForce is so proud of selling. Quality is 50/50 at best, it could last 250k miles, it could blow up in a week, they have no quality control assurance in copies.... Its your engine.

Not that I have anything to compare it to yet, but the stock kkk is no slouch under these circumstances. Ive had my 110cc pump installed over a year now and the kkk
will push 30psi if I get on it.

One thing leads to another. What are you going to do to get the tranny to cope with 250-300 hp??

If you’re gonna swap turbos and pay to get the pump redone, you’re gonna want an inter cooler, custom intake piping, 3” exhaust system, etc. For this car, it’s a daily sizeable hassle to make big power properly. Doable, but it’s gonna largely be all custom stuff
