Post 1984 W123 Fan Control Box ?

O.K., someone told me my slow to turn on HVAC fan might be the control box behind the glovebox, there are two boxes there, which one should I have re capped and what is the other one for please ? .

TIA, it's almost Summer and I'm trying to sort out the AC in this car, the heater works fine but the fan never goes to full speed unless I push the defrost button .

It's the silver box. Says "Tempregler" or something to that extent on it. It isn't just bad caps, they leak on the circuit board and eat the traces off. When properly repaired, you get all the automatic functions back and a very predictable system.

The black box is a relay box. It rarely if ever goes bad.

It's a box full of relays. It's the fan speed sequencer. It is controlled by the silver box. There's one relay for each fan speed, each relay corresponds to one tap on the blower resistor.

I sent all three climate control boxes; silver temp, black fan relay, and push button unit to Kris for a going through. My Climate control system works as it should now. It puts a smile on my face compared to frustration when heat/AC was inconsistent. I highly recommend Kris (James Dean). His service is top notch, price is very reasonable. He also rebuilt my cruise control system and helped me get the clock working. All very common failure points in the W123.

Thumbs up Klima II Service

THANK YOU ! .

I didn't know he'd do the PBU as well .

I have an E.G.R. tachometer box I want him to do so I can add a factory tachometer to my beloved 18082 240D stripper .

I sent him a note and am awaiting his reply .

"James Dean" username on this site? If so, the last login was in 2004.
Is he reachable by other means perhaps?

There are 2 different users here that go by the "James Dean" alias. The correct one for Kris Rose is http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/members/jamesdean.html

Well his given name is Kris Rose. His alias here is JamesDean (all one word). I've used his services for cruise control amp repair and he's come through for me every time. I've fixed countless HVAC controls, fuel pump relays, MAS modules, idle control relays, and ECUs, but the CC amps I've had a 0% success rate repairing. He's got some sort of magic voodoo for fixing them.
