how to bleed a w123 clutch.

Step 1. fill the fluid res up to full.
step 2. go under the car
step 3. loosen the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder, not enough for liquid to come out though

step 4 remove clutch slave from the side of the gearbox. whilst leaving the fluid line connected

step 5 hold the slave cylinder 45 degrees down from horizontal ( bleed nipple tilted towards ground )

step 6 loosen bleed nipple and watch, see the fluid come out slowly in drips nice and slow with air bubbles, then after about 20 seconds is will start to flow much better.

step 7 when fluid is flowing nicely, tighten up bleed nipple and check on fluid res, top it up to max

step 8, back under the car undo bleeding nipple and continue until its a nice solid stream with no air bubbles.

step 9 when its a nice solid stream tighten up bleed nipple and put clutch slave cylinder back upon the gearbox.

step 10, put cap back on fluid res

step 11. enjoy your nicely bled clutch without any help or tools or kits.

Same thing happened to me. The "slave" cylinder bleed nipple is the lowest point in the system so that's where the crud collects. I always use the "squirt can" method for bleeding after making sure the slave bleed nipple is clear.

Wow, I'll have to try that next time, sounds more easy than the squirt can method, thanks

Yep. Nice and simple.

I get a better clutch feel and response by bleeding this way than any 1 man kit, 2 man kit or workshop bleeder i have had in the past.
