First I like to say that’s a nice 300sd, and thanks for offering to pull a wheel but my pictures confirm what Diesel300 said about the offset range (22-25)mine show Et25 thanks for the input.
Funny you should mention the 14”” Bundt in the trunk thought maybe for a minute you peeked in mine
My other 85sd has the bundts so when I park them side by side I still like the look of the bundts but I like the way the 15’s ride.
I’ve had my other SD for 11 yrs and have enjoyed it very very much so when the opportunity presented itself to pick up another I couldn’t resist.

I really appreciate this forum, where would we all be without the experience and support that is offered here so freely. Thanks Again

TUV approved 15 inch aftermarket bundts are available.
I got a set of 5 for 'Stormcloud' from the forum sponsor last August 2020.

Maxilite Bundt Style Wheel 7 x 15, Silver, 5 x 112mm Bolt Pattern, 23mm Offset, 66mm Center Bore. Part #: PEL-MBBA715

The Maxilite bundts are cast ($).
They are not forged ($$$) like the 5 OEM 15 inch bundts I purchased from the classic center back in 2017 for 'Desert Rose'.

The Maxilite rims were bought to replace the 4 Lorinser RS90 - 8 X 16 RT22 rims 'Stormcloud' used to wear.
2 were damaged from an oversteer collision with the curb on the left side.
The 2 good ones are for sale on craigslist.

Funny that the Maxilite rims make a mention, I was going to bring it up, but given how the "purists" always complain about aftermarket rims I decided not to.

My 560SEL had a nasty shake at highway speeds that persisted after suspension refresh and showed up that 3 of the 4 rims were bent when I took the car into the tire shop for a balance and wheel check.

Rather than replace the stock 15-hole wheels with another set that were probably also bent and needed refinishing, I elected to go with the 15" Maxilite bundts. I've never cared for the 15-hole wheel on the late cars and I'd rather crap in my hand and clap than run those god-awful 8-hole or CLK "light weight" wheels.

Since no pictures seem to exist of a Gen II W126 wearing 15" bundts, here's a picture of mine taken yesterday evening after I washed my filthy car:

That is a fact.

I tried it, it will not work. Indeed, the brake calipers on a 1986 w126 prevented the 14" bundts from bolting up.

Oh man that’s a nice long body. Amazing those are 15”. Proportions look perfect for the car.

I’m not a purist, I’m a cheapskate. I like 14” stock rims because they roll on cheaper tires.

I just checked the PO’s bills and the eight hole rims were actually bought at the dealer. They are called Mille Miglia 7jx15. I recall they said Italy and not Germany on the inside. I don’t like them but I wouldn’t crap on my hand over it.

My favs were the black alloys on my 240D that looked like steelies with hubcaps. I used to play this game with “car experts” among my coworkers when they’d ride to lunch in my 240d.

I’d say, “yeah boy, I got me some owlloys” and smile proudly at my car…which obviously had painted hubcaps over pressed wheels.

The know it all who didn’t know me would say “ah-em, those are not alloys.”

I’d dumbly say, “R2 owlloys!”

My mark would say, “nope, those are steel rims with hubcaps.”

I’d say in the dumbest voice, “furreal? Wanna bet $20?”

I got two new guys at my office to bite on two different occasions. “Car guys.”

After a shake I’d pull a magnetic pickup out of the trunk I kept specifically to settle this bet and show them how it wouldn’t stick to the rim through the little holes in the hubcap. Jaws would drop. I’d drop the street accent and calmly ask for the $20. Then I’d buy appetizers for the lunch group with the $20 and say the new guy was treating us all to fries/onion rings/faelafel.

After I did it twice to two of the new guys people stopped the third fish before he lost his $20.

“No just no, don’t bet with him.”
