There will be polymerization inside the tank, on tank wall, filler neck etc, but those are cosmetics, nothing to do with the functioning of the car. Adding small amount of VO should be fine, in my opinion, my opinion alone.

Running 100% WVO is fine if you know what you are doing. It is ok if anyone here wants to dispute it but I wouldn't be a party to the discussion.
Clearly somebody forgot to tell the prechambers and injector nozzles I pulled out of this head.

It is of no value at all posting ONE example of polymerization ( reason unknown, you are assuming it was caused by VO. ). You don't agree with adding VO to a tank of diesel or running VO on its own, so be it. We agree to disagree.

3) biodiesel has gone through the transesterification process so it will not polymerize, that's all. Blending VO with diesel in small quantity is very similar to b5 or b20. It should work well.

The bottom line, purists will never accept WVO as fuel. My contention is that junk cars in the yard ran on diesel. So diesel is not your magic potion to keep old Mbz on the road forever.

By that logic, all dead people have low blood pressure, therefore high blood pressure is not a problem.

Yes. High blood pressure is not a problem. There is drug to migrate the hbp, just like you treat VO with respect and it will give you good service. Next question.

I have come across several studies here in the UK emphasizing the relative safety of B20 Biodiesel. No increases in filter or oil changes required either.

Today, UK pump diesel is sold as a B7 biodiesel blend i.e. with upto 7% biodiesel. Should I chose to add sunflower oil to the tank, my main struggle is knowing how many liters to ensure I stay close to that B20 ratio. Back of the envelop math says 10L or 2.5 gallons should be sufficient?

I'm no expert in the field of fuels, but I would appreciate any reference for the claims stated.

A quick google search has shown something contrary: https://upcommons.upc.edu/bitstream/handle/2117/16423/temperature_dependence.pdf

I'm looking forward to your experimentation I'm not brave enough to do it in my car, whatever anecdotal evidence pro/against there is.

I mean no offense, but if you’re going to ride for it, at least read the replies in your own thread.
We learned on page two that biodiesel is not the same as SVO, as biodiesel has been through a process of “transesterification” removing whatever components (esters?) cause/or may not cause, engine polymerization -the point of contention here.

I’m into adding a quart to a gallon per tank as an experiment in attenuation, but I want to make sure we’re all tracking with the same info.

The next question is, where does this high blood pressure migrate to. Second question if its not a problem, why did they make a drug for it. what came first the problem or the drug. Hopefully not a drug problem. Just messin with words. Please take no offense. Toung and cheek.

I understand there are benefits to living in a warm area. One of them is the ability to use WVO as a fuel. Yes it can be done in the cold too, its just a bit more tricky and risky. Time is money, and up here, unless you are on unemployment the $40 to 50 a week saved is quickly lost unless the setup is dialed and the source is constant. I do commend you for doing what you can to keep the fossil fuel supply up. Here, Mercedes engines are not a dime a dozen. If you find a used one its a craps shot.
Have fun with the grease.

No offense is taken.

I am wondering where do your read that I am using VO?

Running 95% WVO for years.

I run almost exclusively on used veggie oil, and have done so for nearly 15 years with no conversion or modifications; no problems, I use decent oil not cooked to death, filter it REALLY WELL, add about 5% gasoline (a little more in cooler weather), and drive. about 80,000 miles each on my 81 240D, and '85 300D. If it's below about 40 deg F, i mix in diesel or K1 kerosene, and below freezing run straight diesel . But about 8 or 9 months of the year, i am running on almost free fuel. I think the people who have had problems are either using poorly filtered or sludgy oil, or have problematical conversions with air or coolant leaks.

Soy oil and others are a good option after the zombie apocolypse, even used motor oil. In CA, using bio is as easy as filling up at Propel or Union 76 which have "renewable diesel". It is bio-based but converted to work in any diesel engine, guaranteed. My 300D's idle smoother on it (higher cetane).
