Red Lead
Red is usually is positive. Isn't there a Plus symbol there somewhere? Since the battery on 123s goes in with the terminal closest to the front of the car the terminal closest to the engine is positive. Hope this helps.

As astandard rule Red is always positive and black is neg or ground. You can also see the + and - signs on the battery itself.
