Is the 103 heavier than the 602 ?
I been searching to find out if the 103 is heavier than the 602 turbo but I haven’t find out. Does anyone know ?

Diesel engines are usually heavier than gassers. But, a good way to find out is look for engines for sale and see what the shipping weight is, or look at reman engine sites and see what the shipping weight of the the long block comes to.

The difference in weight is not large. Mercedes usually uses the same blocks and cranks for the gas and diesel engines so there is a difference in the weight of the aluminum heads vs iron. Generally mb makes the engines near the same weight so the handling is about the same for all engines in the same body.

You are right Tom the difference is not large and since both engines have aluminum heads and iron blocks the heaviest engine is the 103 because it has one more cylinder. I been looking at engines for sale but I haven’t found the exact weight
