I took these calipers off a grey market 123 300D parts car and put them on my 83 240d. I don't know the year of the parts car, but I don't think they are original. Several other parts I have taken off of that car were off of later models.

These are 38mm dual piston calipers. They have the mercedes logo and say "38" in big letters and have 0326 and 0327 stamped on the halves. I have found no other part numbers. Unlike 123 calipers, the pins that hold the pads in are held in place with a cotter pin and not the spring rings.

Anyway, I just pulled the pistons and cleaned the bores on a sticky one. I am sure it will start leaking soon so I need to know what rebuild kit to buy. It appears that several mercedes in the 1990's and early 2000's had 38mm dual piston calipers.

Does anyone recognize them and know what they came off of?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Those look the same, but have 34mm pistons.
Your reply helped me figure out that they are Girling, and that led me to this thread:

It seems like the bendix kits may work

I'm not certain but am recalling that wagons used larger piston calipers than sedans. They might be wagon calipers.

I thought they were maybe ATE (Alfred Teves Engineering) from the flat rattle spring. Have never seen a Girling.

Definitely not ATE. I have several of those laying around. I can always rebuild those I guess.
Its working great today, but the dust shields were toast so I removed them and I have not had great luck reinserting pistons into the old bore seals. It didn't seem to leak today, but my guess is that when cooler temps arrive its going to start to leak at the bore gasket.
I asked on the other girling thread how things turned out. I will probably give it a couple days and see if there is a response.
