Looking For 1987 300D Coolant Tank

My sister, who shares my enthusiasm for diesels, has a 1987 300D, the coolant tank of which cracked or was damaged in some way. So she is high and dry, and unable to drive more than short distances.

Does anybody have one of these in good shape?

Thanks!

post 39 appears to discuss some generic eBay recovery tank for the 190 D.

unfortunately, the models listed are all gasoline cars, and I've been told of the tank for diesel models of the 124 are different.

This fits my NA OM603, should fit the turbo too.

EDIT: Sorry, I think it may not. Looking at the tanks listed here and the one for your car (1245001849), the tank outlet pipe orientation looks to be different. So the ones suggested here may not fit.

EDIT2: Just read Ah-kay's link, it looks like 1245001349 fits, with other members confirming. Filed for future reference!

Thanks a lot! I emailed the European vendor that sells the part, which is actually a US company produced part. I tried calling the company in New Jersey today, but they close just as I was calling them.

So I'm waiting for confirmation from the European vendor.

here is that part number from another website, which doesn't show compatibility with the 1987 300D.

https://www.ecstuning.com/b-meyle-parts/coolant-expansion-tank/1245001349~mey/

and I just bought a part from pelican parts, and asked if they had an expansion tank that would fit, and they said no!

Absolutely confused

Just read post #39 and #40. Can't help if one is so ignorance. I bought 2 for my 1987 300D and they are identical. Also Jeff in post #40 confirmed it.

say, brother, it's not that I don't believe you. I'm just getting over and eye problem, and these links to different posts are not visually as easy as a yes no answer.

At this point you will have to compare yours to the picture and give it a try it if seems likely enough to work to be worthwhile.

as I said, none of this is about doubting you, but rather I found going from link to link visually difficult. hard to explain unless you go through it.

The pelican part number is the number you describe, and if you tell me that several members of the forum say it works I believe them!

thanks for all the help
