OM616 valve adjustment

I finally got around to doing the valve adjustment on my OM616. Just like diesel giant mentions in his how to all of the valves were too tight. I grabbed the clearance on them before I adjusted them.

I should notice a difference now given that they were all incorrect. It's hard to say on a 40 year old car if an adjustment has ever been done but regardless I don't think it has been done in a long time.

Run it hard and re-adjust them in about 1k miles, when far out-of-adjustment sometime they don't hold the clearance until a few adjustments are done. When adjusting the valves rotate each one to find it's tightest spot and adjust it at that rotation.

Glad you got it done, it will make a difference.

Good luck!!!

It made a huge difference for me, I used to hit 80mph flooring it, I can hit 85 now without flooring it.

Thanks, I will plan on checking the clearance every 1,000 miles and if out of spec I will re-adjust.
