What is 190D Value???

Hi,

I have a 1986 2.5 190D.
The car has 168K miles on it.

What is something like this worth?

Everything works except the power antenna and the rear window defroster.

The a/c blows ice cold and the heat is hot.
Cruise control works perfectly. New battery this year, new brakes.
All new fluids, oil/filter, rear gear oil, transmission completely flushed twice and new trans. filter was added both times. New brake hoses and brake fluid was flushed twice after I drove it a couple thousand miles. New wiper blade, it has the mono wiper.
New glow plugs New shifter bushings under the car. New radiator hoses and drive belt. Just replaced the glow plugs.
New ball joints and steering damper.

A bunch more other stuff that I need to look up in my records before I put the car up for sale. I have receipts.

I went through this car completely changed every fluid, belt and upper and lower radiator hoses, and it runs very well. I put about 5ak miles on it over the summer.

Absolutely no rust on or underneath the car.
Original paint and a few small dents on the trunk, hood and top. There is a dent in the pass. front door. All glass is very good and so is the exterior trim and rubber. The dents could be removed with paintless dent repair.

Car gets 34-39 mpg consistently.

Anyone have any idea what it may be worth?

Thanks!

Stick or automatic?

Sounds like a nice car. Pictures would help.

4 or 5K?

It is an automatic. I will try to get pictures up. It is maroon with palimino color interior.

Sounds like a nice car. Anecdotally, there is a car local to me (San Diego) that's a 190D manual, blue on palomino. It's a nice car, but A/C and one window are inop.

The seller has it as $2,500 and it's been up for a few weeks now. I'm surprised it hasn't sold at that price.

With that automatic, the car probably accelerates 0-47 in 60-65 seconds... They are frightfully slow.

If you got the essentials to convert it to MT it would be closer to 40 MPG and peppier

I know, I have had AT and MT

Good lord that's slow. This car in particular is a manual actually. 40 MPG is realistic? I've seen that number before but wasn't sure if it was hype.
I have a 2010 Prius with 136k on it that's now averaging 42 mpg. A a car from 1986 getting nearly the same mileage is very cool.

The 602 is a 5 cylinder 92 hp I used to own one is not that slow you probably think it’s a 601 with the 4 cylinder 72 hp engine and automatic transmission I have one that is slow to take off but it’s faster than a 240D

I am the original poster.

This car is a 5 cylinder non-turbo. I live in the Washington, DC area and have no problem whatsoever competing with traffic. I can merge on and off the beltway safely. It is not as quick off the start as my 300 Turbo diesel, but I haven't had any day to day acceleration issues with my 190D 5 cylinder (non-turbo).

The car consistently gets 34-39 mpg (diesel)

I posted the original question because all of the hard work that you would have to address, including a converted working air conditioning system, has been addressed, is replaced and functional.

If you do not know how to wrench on these cars and buy a cheap one that needs to be sorted out, it is going to cost you a fortune.

That's why I was curious of its value.

I used to record the fuel consumption in my 2.5D manual... 40 is achievable... but 36 is more fun to drive...

the 87Turbo automatic is peppier for sure, but the car MOVES NA with the manual trans the car is a joy to drive. nothing slow about it at all.

in pristine condition, I'd guess the car is worth upwards of 4K... the issue will be getting someone to buy it.

be SURE to post lots of pictures of all angles of the car, interior, under the hood, and trunk, etc...

if you were near me, I'd likely jump on it at 2000.

I paid $200 for the one I drive but it was a front end wreck, and the poor car has many rattles from the ordeal. I have replaced everything on the car, and it looks pretty good from 10' away.

the radiator is NIGH impossible to find new. there are several parts on the car that are very expensive from MB... and zero after market worth looking at. bypass the heat aux pump now, before it fails and blows the dash, or leaks out coolant on a drive...

love mine.

Don't disparage the 2.2 Diesel with automatic. I changed the valving in the tranny to have the car start in first gear without flooring the accelerator and it made all the difference in the world. While it won't win a drag race it doesn't stop traffic behind you when leaving a traffic light. Averages 31mpg, all in town short distance driving.

I'm the original owner and I'm now single and I don't need two cars. I'm contemplating selling mine with 164K miles, all records and lots of spare parts. $4000. Not ever wrecked. It was wife's car. She died 2010.
