Prudence Is The Better Part Of Valor
O.K., sounds wise .

I just redid all three hardlines on my 300D. Learned some good lessons.
Dipping the nylon tubing in hot water works a lot better than the heat gun. I had a lot of trouble putting them on till I tried the hot water trick. I didn’t want to set up a camp stove and pot of water in the garage but when I finally did I discovered it was much easier than the heat gun. I dipped the tip of the hose in the boiling water for about twenty seconds. It went about halfway on then cooled off. At that point I dipped the entire tip with the fitting on it into the hot water and it went on the rest of the way. After I was all done I dipped the ends into my parts wash to dry off any water. Looked up Nylon 6. It is different than PA 12 which is nylon 12. But both work for diesel. It’s holding up on my SD after a short drive out today. Looks good. Sadly the printing on the side of the tube wiped away when I hit it with diesel. |
300D completed came out pretty nice.
Probably unneccesary though. The original hardlines were pretty good though brown. Ended up using over 1m because I messed up so many times. Heating with heatgun sometimes buckled the hoses. Dipping in water controlled exactly where I wanted the heat applied along the length of the tube. Hope these last as long as the OE ones. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...93bae2c361.jpg |
