Valve adjustment procedure
Searched on this and found most of the info. Tools required and specs.
Not sure about holding the spring etc. My toyota is just a screw driver to adjust and wrench to lock and unlock. Also just turn the engine so the cam is 180 of the valve. Similar for the 240D?

I have not had to hold the nut on the spring during adjustments. You will need something to turn the engine over with. I have seen a cresent wrench used on the power steering pump to turn the engine over.

Only three of the valves I adjusted last time needed the valve held..... but they DID need the spring held... so I recommend the special tool made for that...ask TxBill what he thinks of the special tools now that he has tried it both ways...
Do not use anything except the crank bolt to turn the engine unless you want problems next time you want to take off the power steering pump pulley. Ask TCane about what we had to do to get his off after someone had done that |
