95 E300D, questions related to OM606 injectors

Recently had a set of Bosch India sourced ' rebuilt ' injectors serviced by 'greazzer' and had new Italian Firard nozzles installed. That has led to a lot of searching about OM606 injectors and related parts that make up an injector.

It appears that injectors with the part number for the NA ( non turbo ) engines are no longer available as a new assembly and are typically Bosch India rebuilt ones. From what I've read those have questionable performance and expected life.

NA Injector 0001510551
NA injector spring part number 0000171717

Turbo Injector 0001510651
Turbo injector spring part number 0000171917

Nozzles for NA and Turbo DN0SD310 Bosch 0434250897

Questions:

Are the Injectors part # 0001510651 turbo type still available new? Supposedly they are the same as the 001510551 but with a higher pop pressure.

If so, would they be from Germany or France and not India?

I haven't been able to find a reliable source of new turbo springs part # 0000171917. Found some on ebay but they were Bosch Turkey origin.

Is there a source of 0000171917 that might have been made in Germany or France?

It seems parts just continue to be more and more not available or difficult to find with a good expected quality.

I did more internet searching this morning for OM 606 Turbo injector springs Mercedes 0000171917

ecstuning showed them to be available. When I tried to place an order the shipping charges for low cost standard shipping was almost $50. I called them to question that since the weight would have been just a few ounces.

The sales person told me that part was no longer available to order.

Second, I tried a website called fixparts, I thought it was in England, They showed a low price for what was touted as Mercedes 0000171917. Turns out the company is located in Latvia. With the low price being almost too good to believe I have doubts if they would be genuine Mercedes parts.

Every parts house that advertises the 0000171917 turbo spring as being available, says they are ' no longer available '.

One in England says they are available, but says they can not provide country of origin. So I don't trust that supplier, I believe country of origin s/b on the package label if Bosch.

I opened a parts request with the Plano TX Park Place Mercedes dealer, if others would open the same type request with their local dealer it might add some extra weight to obtaining them in the future.

Last photo of a Bosch package showed the springs were manufactured in Turkey. Don't know if that would be ok or not. I tend to typically trust Bosch but they've dropped the quality control for the India components.

Nice bit of research. However, why is there a need for the new springs?

When I worked in a fuel injection shop injector springs were only changed if they were broken or they were obviously compressed. The springs are shimmed to get what ever opening pressure is desired.

What did greazzer say about the need for new spring?

Injectors are somewhat like pressure relief valves except that when the pressure is getting relieved it is being injected into the engine.

If you want tubo springs just get a used set of Injectors from eBay or some other source that has those springs and use those injectors to build a set.

For those interested,

I went to a large diesel injector related company in Dallas after checking with Bosch on where to go.

https://www.mddistributorsstore.com/

They were out of stock on the 0000171917 injector springs for the turbo type injector.

They ordered a few for me along with their parts inventory. As far as I know the order was placed with Bosch corporate. The ones delivered were made in India as I recall.

I've recently found that parts suppliers are refusing to search and say where the parts are manufactured due to almost everyone asking for German and/or European source.

Last year I was able to find a few delivery valve sets from a foreign country. Those were also manufactured by Bosch India.

I plan to send my 130,000 mile original injectors to Greazzer along with the Bosch India springs and a set of nozzles made by Monark. I think I got one of the last sets, early 2021, available from Germany for my 95 E300D.

I believe there are probably a few new injectors available for the turbo 606. They were expensive and didn't trust they would be new and not newly rebuilt.
