Blue Ridge Mercedes in Lilburn GA Closed?

Well, I have owned W126's since 1997. Before I retired in 2017, I used to travel to the Atlanta area about once weekly, and would visit Jonathan Hodgman for various Mercedes issues on a somewhat regular basis.

I was planning on stopping by his shop (had moved to Lilburn since my last visit), but Google Maps indicates that the shop is permanently closed.

Does anyone know what happened, or how I can contact him?

Will probably post this in other forums also...

Don

Lilburn was deep in the richer suburbs of Euro-cars so makes sense, though Alpharetta is more the tech cluster since. I didn't own a Benz when in Atlanta. I have Silver-Star Motors near me in Sacramento with some older M-B occasionally in the parking lot and a few old mechanics left, but only went there twice for parts until I found ebay easier. I saw another shop near CSUS with old Benz but haven't tried since I do everything myself. Good luck. Even in SoCal where parts are better (no rust) and many were 300SD sold, they are becoming rare in salvage yards.

Bill, appreciate the response, but I don't need service.

I had left my wrecked 350SDL at his location, and had been planning to retrieve it a few years ago. I subsequently had 8 surgeries which side-tracked that plan. I am now able to return to his shop, but it doesn't look good about me getting my car back.

He's still posting on Instagram under Blueridgemb, last post on the 12th of Feb. So he's still out there. His personal Instagram is johodg5ck, but it's private (and I refuse to follow him) so no telling when he last posted there. Still advertises his shop, however.

Thanks. I am not on Instagram (no intentions to be). Did look at his website, which gives no indication of closing... Google maps stated that...

I totally understand. I wouldn't be using it either if it weren't for business.

Did you try the number on his contact page?

I will say that my friend moved his machine shop as well, and Google also shows it as "permanently closed". I'm working on his behalf right now to get that resolved.

Yes, the number on his contact page is one I have used for years. My number is obviously in his system, as the VM reply addressed me by name...

HOpe he has just moved locations...

There was an issue a few years back where someone was trying to contact him regarding vehicle pickup, and he refused to answer. It was around that point he stopped frequenting forums. His last login on BW was about a year ago, and his post history is all messed up thanks to the migration to Xenforo by the company that bought it out.

I hope you get some resolution to this and am sorry you're in this predicament.

Historically, he has always treated me fairly, and has gone over and above in a number of instances... I just want to get what's mine back...:)

Understandable. I've always been under the impression that his shop has more work than they can realistically keep up with, resulting in cars being there for years on end.

No doubt that he is knowledgeable and he and his team have the skills to do the work, just seems they're always months and months behind. One could only hope the last two years of slower business with world events has allowed them to catch up to continue their string of happy customers!
