2012 VW Jetta Wagon Engine Code P048c advice on how to fix/proceed
|
Try volkswagon TDI site. Warranty on 2012 diesels till end of 2023 or until 120K miles usually. Good honest heavy warranty. Longer of course if it is newer than a 2012.
Depending on the code meaning on these the dealer service is really needed. As can be pretty complex repair often. Expensive not under warranty. Dealer can pull your vin number. To check for warranty. As long as you are below 120K miles. We own one and can be a pretty deep pocket repairs proposition after. May be illegal but disabling systems gets around the common problems that will develop usually. Problem though is after doing it the car cannot get dealer service without them checking and getting rid of the reprogramming. Reprograming to beat emissions as well kills the warranty. The code number of course could be a very small problem. |

That valve is prone to failure. When it will not restrict the exhaust flow the car will not preform a regeneration of the DPF filter. If it fails open. To date the part has been upgraded multiple times. Car seems to drive normally with the problem. Ours failed as well. Most problems will usually be in the pollution control area of these cars.
At least it is out in the open underneath the car. Incidentally these diesels like premium diesel fuel. That to the best of my knowledge is still not available in America. It would cost about 7 cents more an American gallon if it was. It is available in Canada to some degree. I had to put normal diesel in once. I noticed quite the difference. Premium diesel is full of detergents and raises the celane rating of the fuel. So more power perhaps but power is not an issue on these engines. The better fuel millage is. So it really costs no more. They say that engine we have in the Passat. Some slight changes like type of injectors though. Will push the Passat to 160 miles per hour. Never going to try to find out. It does feel like it might though. Especially if the selling dealer tuned the computer well. Actually just optimized the program. Full torque at just above idle makes it feel like a v8. I believe these engines sold in north Ameria are optional in Europe. The normal engine sold in Europe on the Passat is smaller and produces a little over a hundred miles a gallon on the highway. On the imperial gallon. Or about 85 miles per gallon on the American gallon. One does have to allow their fuel is better though. That engine was never introduced to America by Volkswagon. Too bad. |
