Saw a new use for a 240!

Around the Bay Area, you see a lot of old Benzs. This was one of the big markets for MB, and still is. I see abandoned Benzs all the time on the street where I go to work. There is a Mercedes junk yard and people drop off their cars on the curb. The yard can't touch them of course, but people don't know this. So they sit for weeks. So Sad!

Anyway, The other day, I saw this 240 turn the corner in front of me, so he was now in front of me going away...

...and on top of the car were about six big PALLETS!!
...the rear suspension was bottomed out, but it chugged along with no smoke-making money for its master...

The other day, there was a perfect 80's 300D turbo, no plates, dirty-dark brown, gorgeous interior. Someone snatched it that night!

240 Ed,

You may be on to something. What are the odds of finding the plastic fronts for the headlight assemblies? Mine are in tough shape with age and living in grasshopper country. Almost as much adhesive as plastic on them now.

Where's this junkyard?

240 Ed,

I live in the Bay Area and have five 123 Series MBZs and like everyone else am always looking for parts, what's the address of this junkyard?

Ben

P.S. I've lots of parts that I don't need, if you need anything.

got parts in bay area?

I am on the lookout for some nice headlight gates and an 84-85 driver seatbelt. You have anything like that Ridge?

Junkyard address??

I am also looking for a solid and cheap 240 for a biodiesel project car. I am scared that if I find it, my wife will exit...

Ridge

This rip off yard is on S . 7th street. North of the fairgrounds, and south of Phelan St.
$250 for a right side mirror...?

I have good success at any PNP in the Bay area and beyond.

Bay Area Goodies

surfblau,

I've got lots of seat belts plus lots of other goodies, but I don't think any of the seat belts are '84-85. You'd certainly be able to see probably the world's only 4 speed 300DT and the almost aready Intercooled 300DT down here. Then there's the G-Wagen powered 240D and if you have seen my other threads, you'll know we're expecting our first 5 speed for the 300DT. You might be interested in a very good 300D body that I have. No engine or tranny but the chassis has only 87,000 miles on it. Excellent body and interior.

Ben,
Do you have plans on sharing some pics of your intercooler? Isn't it a makeover from a Volvo or some other european? How about some more details? What color is your engineless 300D? Where can it be seen?

Intercooler

Yes, we'll post intercooler pixs when everything is together. So far it's looking mighty good!!! The color of the 300D without engine and tranny is white with Palomino interior. I live near Fremont in the Bat Arera.
