1984 300CD For Sale

Yep ;

Sadly it is time to let it go, I can no longer do the maintenance and I want to keep one Mercedes so my first one, the 1982 240D base model gets the nod .

At $4,000 this is priced well below scrap value so I hope I don't have to send it off to the junkyard, they want it badly .

PLease tell us more about it....AC?

indybenz 04-19-2022 10:37 AM

Oh man if ONLY I were in the US (goes off into the corner...cries to himself).

I posted a blurb about it in looking for a 300CD .

It has a 7 series Japanese made Sanden compressor and cross flow condenser but isn't working at the moment .

New HVAC blower, rebuilt push button unit, working cruise control, high out put alternator, custom made all metal radiator, rebuilt tranny, fully rebuilt front suspension using all factory M-B Classic Center parts, on and on .

Look at the pictures, it's scruffy but road ready to go anywhere .

The price is scrap value .

Where are you taking cars that they're paying you $4000 scrap price?

Hogweed 04-19-2022 01:55 PM

yes, that was my question.....i'm sitting on a goldmine if that were the case

Isn’t scrap like 15c/lb? $4000 would imply over $1/lb. If it’s really that much I should start scrapping!

CDs will always bring a premium. That rust spot hurts me. Makes me sad. The paint looks decent at least from the photos. Good luck with the sale!!

11.5 cents a pound around here last week. I am not trying to talk him down on his price, it sounds reasonable.
Maybe California incentivizes crushing old cars??

The value of this car in scrap is to a Mercedes breaker .

They'll dismantle it and get well over $20,000 by the time everything is sold .

Parts are always worth more than an entire car .

Ok , I’ll bite , how much rust is she wearing , pics please , love the coupes , color is of the vintage . Interior is acceptable , maintenance items look well kept , mileage I know is always in the air but needed anyway , then , blow by , how much . Would it drive half way across the US to Houston ?

chasinthesun 04-23-2022 07:07 AM

The trunk ,jacking points ,the floor rear , it’s places that hold water for periods of time that are the areas for rust , if she is a survivor it’s critical on how much cancer she has , sorry but clinically it is an exam .

chasinthesun 04-23-2022 07:12 AM

The euro touches are always nice on these

vwnate1 04-23-2022 02:39 PM

Someone else already posted pictures, there's rust below the R/R corner of the back light every where else is solid and dry, under the battery, jacking points, trunk floor etc., etc.... .

I'd drive it anywhere at the drop of a hat .

4XX,XXX miles at this point .

Upholstery is okay but nothing more than that, a rip in the driver's back rest is shown in the pictures, the top of the rear seats are split .

I took it out to fill the tank this morning my grandson tells me I cannot sell this car, I wish I could keep it .

Sunroof is inop .
