Buying a 1979 307D Van! Looking for a mechanic who knows these in Los Angeles area

I'm getting my hands on a 1979 T1 van which formerly was a camper and is currently somewhat gutted. It's definitely a project, but a lot of interesting work has been done to it. I'm told all the vacuum lines have been gone through, it has a new battery, glow plug relay and most importantly, an OM617 swapped in. It's a bit of a frankenstein as whoever did the swap had to relocate the radiator to the outside, but I'll take the extra power any day.

Unfortunately, it is currently not running and located in Oakland (I'm in LA). I'm told it was running fine before being stored a year or so ago and then sold to a friend (who I'm buying from). The shop where it's at doesn't have time or space to continue investing in solving the problem. I need to have it shipped to LA, but it's gotta land at a mechanic who knows these vehicles somewhat. I've called about a dozen and nobody seems to want to work on this. Perhaps a sign, but still on the lookout. Any help would be appreciated!

Money pit.

Don't want to discourage you but the towing is $1000+, condition unknown, farming out to mechanic, parts. It is going to cost you dear with unpredictable results. Good luck.
