W123 Fan switch

The Blower Control Switch on my 300D Euro stopped working. To replace that do I need to remove the center console? I tried removing it took out 2 screws behind ashtray and 2 in center under arm rest and it would not budge. Any help with be appreciated. Thanks

Are you sure it is the switch and not the fan?

I thought you could remove the wood veneer plate and access the screws holding down the temp controls assembly in order to access the switch.

No idea what your euro (year?) look like

For access to the blower switch, carefully remove each outside switch on the switch panel above the blower and temp switches. With the small switches removed, you have access to a screw on each side of the panel thru the switch holes. Remove the panel.

Then pull off all knobs on the HVAC panel and remove the nuts behind the blower and temp knobs to remove the panel. Remove the radio and ash tray frame. Remove the center console tunnel surround. There's a screw below the carpeted section of the surround. Two braces on either side of the tunnel surround should then be removed.
