1982 W123 Blower motor disassembly, taking squirrel cage off of motor

I have removed the blower motor from under the dash which is easy. Is there a way to remove the squirrel cage from the motor?

Balance the squirrel cage between two stacks of wood/books/whatever you've got, so that the motor is dangling, then smack the shaft with a punch/screwdriver/nail/whatever you've got and it'll slide right off.

If that is some sort of sealant there. Take a small knife and see if you can scrape the sealant out of the center so you can see the steel motor shaft.
