Is this a good deal on lower ball joints

Hi folks:
I found a mechanic at local gas station. He syas he worked for MB dealership in Morocco( I hope I spelled this right) for 6 yrs. I asked him about re[placing the lower ball joints on my 300d Turbo. He said 3 hrs labor at 65 bucks per hr. Total about 200 bucks.
I asked him about the special tool for pressing the ball joint in and he said dont worry about that I will take care of it.

Is this a nice deal or should I ask him more Q ?? I am really getting tempted( I will provide the parts).

Any comments.

MVK

3/4 of the work to replacing the upper ball joints is done removing/replacing the lowers. I would consider replacing the upper assy while it is down this far. I would tell him you want to see him press the new lower ones in. Price does not sound bad.

Thanks Engatwork:
Yes I definitely want to know how he will press the joint. He has also told me I can watch him do the job if I choose to do so.
AN yes I do have new upper control arms in my trunk and will ask him to give me estimate on it.

By the way I had ordered the lower ball joint by Lemforder and I got the ones by Federated-Mogul TRW.
Any thoughts on this substituted Brand. The have a clear plastic sleeve on it( Transparent) instead of the traditional Black Rubber ones. Looks like they are new synthetic polymer sleeves. The thickness of the sleev is pretty good. Should I keep these or ask for the Lemforders.

You should be fine on the Federal Mogul ball joints.

Make sure that when he presses the new ball joint in that the flat "back" part is flush and even with the part it presses into. You will have alignment/driveability issues if it does not go in like it is supposed to. Take a good look at the ones that come out and make a mental note of how it is in there. I can't imagine that the uppers will add a lot to the total cost of the job.

With the guidelines you have in place that sounds very reasonable... he may have a lot of experience since most of those countries without their own auto manufacturing and close to Europe really like MB's due to their frugal fuel usage and long life bodies.... greg
