w123 windshield replacement, still get them?

Good afternoon all, just picked up another. Probably spent more than i should but ive always wanted a manual old diesel MB so when this one showed up i got it, 83 240D.... it has a busted windshied. can i still get it replaced? I have searched/ read some horror stories about finding someone that can do it. I am in the winston salem area of NC if anyone knows of a good place in the area. TIA -Bill

Bill, I've done a couple myself and a pro complimented me on the install. My point is that it is a time consuming but not difficult or technical DIY job. Due to time constraints a DIY won't bend or damage trim etc. A clean methodical install with a helper took a full morning.

Good luck!!!

New windshields are available from most vendors. Even the 115 windshields were still available last year. Seals can be bough on this website as well.
As others have said, install is tedious, but not hard. Any windshield installer over 50 can do it in his sleep.

Did this a LONG while back, 10+ years. The glass was new from a local supplier in central NJ Red and Black Auto in Jamesburg NJ. The seal was MBZ from the dealer.

Good luck!!!

This.

Even at the chain stores like safelite, where I got my last windshield.

Taken a few out of a junkyard , but that has bruteness of a sort by ripping up the old weathered gasket to bits . Definitely a rope trick , you can describe the process to a windshield replacement company , if they give any maybes , search elsewhere . I’m in a battle with some trades right now , get a contract signed first and read any of their waivers , for instance , they had me get the gasket , then said they don’t warrenty leaks , my gasket , that kind of stuff , good luck .
