86 300 SDL fluids
is it absolutely necessary or recommended to use Mercedes coolant in the 300 SDL? I had heard this but I wasn't sure.
On these cars, is the transmission fluid and the brake fluid the same? Thanks |

If it was my car then I will use the cheapest fluid which meets the specs. However, it is your car so do what you like.

For coolant it's recommended but not absolutely necessary. Just pick one and stick with it, dont mix brands and types. You may end up with gunk in the system if you mix.
Transmission fluid is Dexron II and brake fluid is DOT 3, IIRC. |

I've seen the green stuff in them. I run Zerex G05 in my 98. G48 in the GLk350 IIRC. As stated, get one and only use that.
