Classic car insurance for your Diesel?
Seems the difference between traditional coverage and classic comes down to mileage and a lot less money.
Geico’s charging me approx $40 pcm, but always looking to give my overheads a trim. Wondering if anyone’s switched over to a classic/antique plan. Who’d you go with? What are you paying? -

I use State Farm for all my insurance. I have the '74 insured under such a policy, called something like "limited use" with a cap on miles allowed per year. I hardly drive the car, so it's worth it. Cost per month is just under $15, and that's including the stated value of the car which I cannot recall.

I called up Hagerty and they didn't want to give me an offer on my wagon or sedan.

Redoing my policy has been on my list as well. Currently with State Farm but they only value the car at something ridiculous like $1500. I drive too many miles for classic car insurance.

I have classic insurance on many of my cars. It allows for limited use and commuting, but requires a separate policy with a daily driver.
Simply stated, you can’t put classic insurance with stated value on a daily driver. The reason why rates are lower is an expectation of reduced usage, careful storage, and lower losses as a result. Don’t put yourself at risk or ruin it for the rest of us. I’ve started to note increased scrutiny on part of underwriters for low value cars. Probably because it was abused.

In my state, classic insurance is only for garage queens, and has no liability coverage, only stated value...
So, additional policy required to have a plate on it.

Even more ridiculous, my classic car insurance values my 1982 300D at $19,100.

I am an insurance broker/agent in Texas. Some classic car coverages do have liability coverage built in with the comp and collision. That said, some go by the original price of the car for valuation, others go with agreed amounts, and some go by the appraised amount.
You cannot put classic car coverage on a daily driver. Mileage is also typically below 5 to 1 k miles a year.
