Replacing turn signal relay on 82 300d
 

I also have instrument cluster out to change clock. Got relay in , but waiting for clock to reinsert cluster.Does cluster have to be reattached for turn signals to work?

Kind of confused. What relay? The turn signal and hazard flasher is inside the center console in front of the gear shift. That's assuming you have the red rocker hazard switch not the older bigger push down one. My '81 has the push down and it is also the flasher mechanism. The relays a bit to the left behind the cluster are windshield wipers and rear window defogger.

Oh wait. You got the relay in down in the console. Will the signals work with out the inside indicators? I haven't tried that, but it would be messy to drive without the oil line connected to gauge.

Oil line is hooked up to cluster temporarily till clock goes back. Just wanted to check relay I put in is good. That is why I asked if blinkers work without cluster plugged in

There's a good chance they will not work as the resistance will not be correct. If you put the indicator on it will light up the bulb but will not flash.

I'm, of course, assuming you installed an OEM resistive type flasher. If you have upgraded to a LED style flasher then you'll be fine.
