right rear window wire routing
Hi, my 87 is not getting power to the RR window, I have had the door apart, regulator and motor work fine when power applied, I have traced the wire from the motor through the door, to the inside B pillar and no breaks anywhere. (other side was broken off) Switches, fuse all of it is good. So where does the wires go from the B pillar? Under the carpet to where? I need to find the break as I assume that's what it must be.

I don't have the schematics handy at the moment. IIRC, the wiring goes from the B pillar over to the center console switches, from there, thru the console tunnel to the dash. Before tearing too far into it, check the power at the RR switch on the console. I believe that switch assembly if bad can disable the door switch. Try swapping switches L to R and see if any change.

On my w123 I inspected the wiring while doing rust repairs to the floor. The wires which route from the passenger's floor make a sharp incline up to enter the B pillar and then to the right rear door. At that sharp incline I found two wires with damage on them, almost as if they'd been bent and the outer diameter had been rubbed.
I'd check points like that where the wiring takes a sharp turn, especially in the door hinge area. If you can't see the wires I'd check for continuity where you can just to isolate the wire that's causing the issue. |
Check the wire at the door hinge or the child window lock switch. Wire will not break unless it is flex often or had an accident with wire pinched that wasn't repaired.
