Bluetec Sprinter OM642 engine swap compatibility
 

Hey everyone, got a 2019 Sprinter OM642.899 with a seized engine and need to consider an engine swap. Unknown (probably poor) maintenance history; ran for a bit and now I cannot get it to turn.

So I'm considering an engine swap. Apart from Sprinters, this engine seems to be used in many other cars - any other that is compatible with mine? I can move over the accessories and such, just looking to get a compatible junkyard engine. Any leads, anyone? Thanks!

You need to stick with the .899 designation as there are differences in engine block design such as starter motors on different sides and wiring ect and block casting/ bolt sizing/ water pumps etc

It probably is but you need to check those last 3 digits to ensure compatibility .

Are all OM642 engines the same?
Basically the same block & heads but a lot of internals are different (like camshafts) and so are things like manifolds and wiring harness and, and, an, and.!

It is used in a lot of cars,so you may get lucky. Just Google it.
