I just had a random idea! Is there any manual tranny that would bolt up to the 617 turbo engine? how hard would it be to make a pedal cluster work for this? hmmmmmm dreaming .. . . .. .. .

Not sure on the tranny issue, but there are some european w126 280s, se and sel's floating around that were 5 speeds.

This could be done. The pedal assembly exists. As turbodiesel said, there were 126 bodied cars with manuals. There also have been 617 turbo engines mated to a manual transmission. This would be a challenge but it could be done.
