87 190D 5speed brake light switch...
Looks like the switch works fine, just my pedal isnt pushing it.
Maybe the end of thw switch fell off or something? Anybody have picturs of the installed part? I will look online for one. |
I looked everything over, it appears stock, i see rust marks on both the pedal tab and thw end of the button shaft...
Idk, maybe when i had the clutch replaced, they rearranged something and now it doesnt reach. Anyway, i just pulled it out, melted off the end, then added some melted water bottlecap material to the end until it was long enough to reach. Seems to work fine. |
Is your car an original MT car or is it a swap? I had an issue with my w124 swap as well. Brake lights were always on. Had to reverse the wiring on the switch and add some extra cushion for the pushing for the switch.

I had this when I switched brake booster and master cylinder, I had to glue a little tab on there to make them light up.

The clutch was recently replaced, and its the first time i have driven it in 9 years... Oddly the switch shows pedal rust contact pattern, as does the pedal... it just doesnt reach. My makeshift repair is working great though, so no worries. |
